Windshield Chip Repair Process by Alpha Auto Glass :
Chip repairs on windshields can happen due to pebbles, debris and rocks on the freeway or streets. Following trucks is not a good idea.
- ⚪ When you make an appointment with our AGF Sales team, they will explain the chip repair process, they will ask you a few questions about how the windshield got damaged, or chipped, how big is the chip, and how long the cracks are… They will let you know if your windshield needs to be repaired or replaced. Our Alpha Auto Glass sales team will sometimes ask you for a damage picture and Vehicle ID Number (VIN). Once you make an appointment, our tech will call you prior to arrival and once they arrive at your location, you will get a text message or a call.
- ⚪ Make sure your chipped or damaged area of the windshield is smaller than a quarter.
- ⚪ The crack hasn’t started to spread more than a quarter size.
- ⚪ Make sure the chip isn’t on the edge of the windshield; all black or dotted areas can’t be repaired.
- ⚪ Make sure the crack hasn’t gone all the way through the windshield.

- ⚪ The area around the chip or crack will be cleaned and vacuumed to remove air, prior to filling the chip and crack with resin.
- ⚪ We then apply our quick-drying resin to fill the damaged area and let it cure to assure a strong bond to the windshield.
- ⚪ Once the fill is complete, we apply another layer of bond, which will make the surface of the chip area even. We will clean any excess resin and use Sprayway or glass cleaner to clean and shine your windshield.
